Soprano Summer Haiyan Song
Haiyan Song, a Soprano with a Master of Arts in Vocal performance from Washington State University, continued to study opera with America well-known opera singer, Catherine Cook, Opera singer and voice professor in San Francisco Opera house and San Francisco Conservatory. 2001-2003 Coached by Rosemary Cahill and Sandra Dugdale at Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, U.K. Majored in voice. She has played major roles in many operas, such as Cosi Fan Tutte，Carmen, L'Elisir d'Amore (The Elixir of Love), Too many sopranos and The telephone.
She performs recitals, has been involve in many concerts in Singapore, Malaysia, England, United States, Russia and China etc., and won awards in nationwide singing competitions.
Her master thesis dissertation “East meets West” concerns “the blending vocal technique of Eastern and Western”. The thesis was nominated by the School of Music to present at the annual WSU Showcase. Her papers and articles in the field of operas and vocal technique have been widely cited.
Currently, she is a singer, an anchor reporter for PBS Comcast channel 17; she also has a studio for private voice lessons. She says, “With my teaching, I try to give the student a healthy technique and sophisticated knowledge of phrasing and structure to help the beauty of each instrument to shine”
