|On Monday, August 17, some members of HPD’s Community Outreach Unit, also known as the “Blue Crew,” will bring together a team of volunteers to donate their time and talent to give some special kids a new look for back to school. The children, all residents of the Star of Hope: Transitional Living Center, will be receive new haircuts and styling services as part of the “Look Good, Feel Good” event. |
“These are children in transition from life on the streets,” said HPD Sgt. Jim Babb, who supervises the “Blue Crew.” “It’s a great opportunity to enhance the self esteem of these kids who have endured so much in their young lives and to get them excited about going back to school to show off their new look.”
All children taking part in the event may be photographed by the media.
Supplies and services have been donated by Envy Beauty Supply, located at 9525 Southwest Freeway, and Style Right, located at 11883 Bissonnet. Lunch for the volunteers will be provided by Kroger, located at 7747 Kirby. For more information please contact Officer E.J. Joseph at 713-305-6801.
