In Houston, a photography & African sculptures show, “MAN, WOMAN AND CHILD” will open Friday, October 23, 2009, 6:00 – 9:00PM , presented by newly named Hannah Bacol Busch Gallery.
One of Houston’s most unique galleries, located in River Oaks, formerly called International Décor Gallery, presents a 6-month African Themed Photography and Antique Sculpture Exhibition, “Man, Woman and Child”, October 23rd, 2009 through April 30th, 2010.
The show is an art synergy of photography and sculptures. There is both color and black & white photographs depicting powerful images of African figures, wildlife, and landscapes. Artists have captured amazingly beautiful images from Ghana, Uganda, Mali, Zimbabwe, Senegal, Kenya, Niger, and Tanzania.
Eight professional, educated, and very talented artists, who originate from various parts of the country, like New York, NY; Chicago, IL; Providence, RI; Lanham, Maryland; Somerville, Bolton and Brookline, Massachusetts; Venice, California; and other cities from both East & West Coast are featured for this show, and they include: Michael Bracey, Kenneth Martin, Kerry Coppin, Pali Dacanay, Margaret Lewis, Susie Shapira, Don Gurewitz, and Margaret Vendryes.
The Gallery also presents its primary collection of Antique African Sculptures, mainly representing the sculptures inherited from the Dogon Culture (Mali). Dogon Sculptures are mysterious, refine, and precious. Novice & experienced collectors will enjoy the pieces shown for this exhibit. The Gallery’s acquisition of more African Antique pieces continues through 2012. Collectors still have access to the Gallery’s Asian Antique permanent collection. All antique pieces are for sale.
As part of the Gallery’s overall mission, it is dedicated to expressing the universal beauty and power of all cultures of the world. In 2004-2008, a collection of fine arts and antiques from Asian Countries were successfully emphasized. The Gallery proudly presents in 2009 through 2012, fine artworks (photography, paintings, drawings, antique sculptures, and textile art) from African Countries & Artists.
Opening Night is Friday, October 23rd, 2009, 6:00-9:00pm at Hannah Bacol Busch Gallery, located on 2501 S. Shepherd, Houston, Texas, 77019 (conveniently at Westheimer & S. Shepherd). The Night will also be highlighted by a Live Salsa Music Band, Wine, Hors D’oeuvres, and Valet Parking. Admission Fee is $20 to attend this Show. Proceeds from the Sale of the Photography & Fine Arts will benefit “March of Dimes” – Houston and “Big Brother and Big Sisters of Greater Houston”.
