|HPD OFFICERS TO URGE CUSTOMERS THAT “SAFE SHOPPING STARTS WITH YOU”|
From 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday (November 23), Houston police officers will be meeting with customers at a Houston grocery retailer as part of a holiday shopping safety campaign dubbed “Safe Shopping Starts With YOU.”
Officers will meet and interact with shoppers at the H-E-B store
located at 5225 Buffalo Speedway.
The officers will be distributing theft reduction report cards on
customers’ windshields, giving them a pass or fail grade as to whether they leave vehicle doors unlocked, windows opened or cracked, and if packages or valuables are in plain view. Those same officers will also pass out shopping safety flyers to customers.
In the “Safe Shopping Starts With You” campaign, five area grocery retailers (H-E-B, Kroger, Randalls, Fiesta and WalMart) partnered with the HPD to form the Greater Houston Loss Prevention Alliance aimed at reducing property crimes, keeping shoppers safer and lessening their chances of becoming victims.
