|HOUSTON, TX – Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia and employees of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) have responded to Santa’s call for help and will deliver toys on Wednesday to the Children’s Assessment Center.|
The toys will be delivered in an 18-wheeler preceded by a caravan with Sheriff Garcia, the HCSO Mounted Patrol, and other members of the Sheriff’s Office. All the toys have been donated by HCSO staffers. This is the agency’s 15th year collecting toys for the Children’s Assessment Center, with about 2,000 thousand toys provided every year.
“These children have all been victims of horrific crimes. If we can bring some happiness to them in the form of toys on their wish list to Santa and help them forget, at least for a moment, their scaring experience, that’s the least we can do,” said Sheriff Adrian Garcia.
The mission of the Children’s Assessment Center is to provide a professional, compassionate, and coordinated approach to the treatment of sexually abused children and their families and to serve as an advocate for all children in our community.
