The Honorable Peter Brown, Houston City Council Member At-Large Position 1 is a dedicated community leader who has both an understanding as well as a personal vision for Houston's expanded role in the international economy in the 21st century.
Mr. Brown knows that the international trade and global alliances Houston businesses have established in the past have played a major role in the well-being of the city's economy. Now faced with unprecedented global financial challenges, he now realizes that Houston's local economy will be best sustained by strengthening our international ties, while establishing new and creative international partnerships for "weathering the global economic storm."
Mr. Brown is a third-generation Houstonian with over 30 years of business experience which includes the following:
* Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, the profession's highest honor.
* Nationally recognized urban planner (AICP).
* Successful projects in 25 U.S. cities, and in 30 Houston neighborhoods.
* Co-founder of Houston Proud, the Main Street Coalition, Blueprint Houston.
* Holds 5 university degrees; adjunct professor of Urban Planning in the graduate program at TSU.
* Successful businessman, real estate investor, U.S. Army veteran.
* Volunteer service for over 30 charitable boards and civic organizations.
