The purpose of education is to increase problem solving abilities/skills. Taking short term/intensive program may only improve test scores, but not necessarily problem solving skills. We at Advance Academy place emphasis on building good foundations for advance learning.
Calculus is the most important course in transitioning from foundational math to advanced-level math. We have recruited two experienced teachers from St. John's, which is a very prestigious private school. Both of these teachers have won many awards and both have over 25 years of teaching experience. If you plan to take pre-calculus, Calculus AB or Calculus BC next year, it is a wonderfully opportunity for you to take classes offered by these two teachers. Our SAT and PSAT teachers are also extremely well-qualified and under their instruction, you'll be able to see an immediate impact on your child's scores.
Don't waste away your whole summer; take this time to help your children boost skills they might not have fully understood from the previous year. Students can also take this time to prepare for their next years' classes in advance. This will allow them to have more time to concentrate on other courses during the school year. In addition, Advance Academy is the best place to prepare high school students for taking AP classes. Most of the parents know AP courses in high school involve a rigorous workload. If a student plans to take several AP classes, he/she has to juggle an even heavier workload. Several of our AP course here at Advance Academy can help these students prepare for these AP classes in advance.
We have seen many students entering high school often struggle with basic math skills such as fractions, ratios, proportions and percentages. It is hard to play catch-up in math, so Advance Academy offers a comprehensive math class that makes sure students have the foundational math skills to prepare for high school math classes, such as Algebra II, Pre-Cal and Calculus. This class, which targets 8-9th graders, is called Preparing for High School Math and will be offered on Saturdays. We also offer a class called Contest Math, which is geared towards 7-8th graders who are interested in learning more advanced math skills through taking a nationwide test called the AMC.
What is most important to us is that students develop a love of learning early on in their life. Thus, we encourage you to put your elementary kids into our classes, which are designed to help children gain a passion for scholarship. Advance Academy also offers reading and writing classes for these elementary school students, which are taught by excellent teachers. We have always been proud of the quality of teaching staff at Advance Academy, so your children will be in good hands. For these elementary school students, we will also have a magician come in every Friday to teach them fun tricks and skills. Studies have actually shown that learning magic helps exercise the mind and offers other kinds of benefits to a child's educational development.
