|HOUSTON, TX – Two Harris County sheriff’s deputies helped save a pregnant woman’s life; one of them dislocates her own shoulder in the process.|
At approximately 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, January 2, Deputy D. Talbott was finishing up the investigation of a minor accident at Highway 290 and West Little York when a man ran to her saying his girlfriend in a nearby car was having seizures. Deputy Talbott immediately called by radio for an ambulance and left to assist the woman.
By the time Deputy Talbott and the man reached the couple’s car, located at the entrance to Lone Star College-CyFair, the woman had stopped breathing. The boyfriend stated the 47-year-old woman was three month’s pregnant. Deputy Talbott, with the boyfriend’s assistance, pulled the woman from the car. However, Deputy Talbott’s shoulder popped out of its socket during the process. The boyfriend then assisted Deputy Talbott in putting her shoulder back in place, before starting CPR on the pregnant woman.
Deputy Talbott continued CPR until DPS Trooper Duck and HCSO Deputy Bair showed up to help. All three continued CPR until CY-Fair EMS showed up. The woman was taken to North Cypress Hospital where she remains. Deputy Talbott in the meantime, has undergone surgery for an unrelated health matter and is recovering.
