He graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Philosophy degree in 1989, and went on to attain his Juris Doctorate degree from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law. Today he is a successful businessman in the District with a long history of fighting for his neighbors’ interests and investing in building restaurants and retail for the area’s future.
Council Member Al Hoang
Al’s top priority on City Council is to return tax dollars to the constituents of his district by working to increase public safety, improve economic development, advocate for quality affordable housing, and provide the most proactive constituent service to residents of District F. Al is working to return many of the neglected neighborhoods in the district to the safe and thriving communities of the past. Additionally, Al works closely with his colleagues on City Council to promote a fiscally responsible approach to city spending.
Al Hoang is a devoted family man with Christian values. He and his wife Diane have three children and are members of Christ Incarnate Word Catholic Church on South Kirkwood. Al has also been an active member in the community and has served on numerous civic and anti-crime boards. In his spare time he enjoys jogging and bicycling through his neighborhood with his family
