BRINGING THE WORLD'S BEST TO HOUSTON
7:30 pm, Sunday, April 11, 2010
Wortham Center's Cullen Theater
No other music says “Venice” like the compositions of Vivaldi. And what better ensemble to perform his famous The Four Seasons than the musicians who have performed over 350 concerts on their own season in Venice’s San Vidal Church, where Vivaldi used to play and where his spirit lives on! Specializing in Baroque music, Interpreti Veneziani is a group of master musicians who perform on original instruments and prefer to perform in a semicircle in order to play in a lively “conversational” manner. This nine-member string ensemble tours the world in addition to their subscription series at home, sprinkling Venetian magic wherever they perform. From the Bayreuth Festival to the Tokyo Suntory Hall, audiences and critics alike have applauded the Interpreti Veneziani for the high level of their playing and their expertise as soloists and ensemble musicians.
Their Houston debut program features Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, Paganini’s La Campanella, Handel’s Concerto Grosso, and Preludio e Allegro by Pugnani/Kreisler.
This is simply one concert that can not be missed by connoisseurs of the best in chamber music!
