|Houston City Council Approves Contract as Important Step in Creation of One-Stop Houston Permitting Center|
First One-Stop Permitting Center in the United States
City Council approved a contract with Sogeti USA, LLC to assist the City in analyzing and designing an Enterprise Point of Sale System and to evaluate the City's customer queuing system for the new Houston Permitting Center at 1002 Washington Avenue.
The Houston Permitting Center will be the first One-Stop Permitting Center in the United States. Customers will be able to obtain more than 260 distinct permits in one location from several City of Houston departments. The Houston Permitting Center is now under construction, and, once complete, the Houston Permitting Center will house more than 700 City employees dedicated to providing a One-Stop Permitting service to City businesses and residents.
The Sogeti agreement approved by Council kicks off Stage I of a project to design a technology infrastructure to integrate legacy permitting platforms into one Point of Sale System. Once complete, customers will be guided through each permitting process and may obtain multiple permits issued by different deparments in a single transaction.
