|HOUSTON— Houston Friends of Music presents The King’s Singers on Tuesday, December 7th at 8 p.m. The King’s Singers will once again delight the Houston audience with holiday and traditional choral music in Stude Concert Hall at Rice University Shepherd School of Music. This group of six incredibly, talented vocalists amaze the listener with a sound that encompasses the depth and breadth of an orchestra while sharing as intimately as a string quartet.|
Described as possessing an “impeccably manicured vocal blend, enchanting the ear for the first to the last note” (Gramophone Magazine), The King’s Singers maintain the highest caliber of a cappella performance and are one of the most sought after vocal ensembles in the world.
Their concert performances include in excess of 120 performances annually and tour from Anchorage to Zurich all over the world. The breadth of The King’s Singers repertoire in concert and on CD is vast. They have collaborated with such musical greats as pianist Emanuel Ax, Jazz legend George Shearing, mezzo-soprano Marilyn Horne and groups like the New York Philharmonic, Boston Pops, Morman Tabernacle Choir and the WDR Big Band of Cologne just to name a few. The group has received numerous awards and plaudits for their recordings and has surpassed the 100 album mark.
As the BBC Music Magazine asserted, “One can’t but admire the impeccable intonation, rhythmic precision and immaculate ensemble of their performances.” The charm, wit, and extraordinary musicianship of The King’s Singers is further enjoyed through many workshops and master classes done for all ages internationally. Their last performance on the Houston Friends of Chamber Music series was a sell out. Don’t miss this concert and begin your holiday with this wonderful evening of magical music.
