|Think you’ve got what it takes to play Rugby? What about knocking one out of the park in a game of Cricket? Are you agile enough to compete in a Soccer match? Are your aerial skills adequate for Skateboarding? How about becoming the next Video Game champion? These are just a few of the things you can see and do at this year’s Fourth Annual International Festival of Fort Bend.|
The International Festival of Fort Bend, an annual event celebrating ethnic culture and community in Fort Bend County, will include electrifying indoor and outdoor performances and exhibitions. “In keeping with the mission of the IFFB festival, attendees will experience the rich cultural heritage of Fort Bend County,” said 2010 President Pretta VanDible Stallworth.
The free admission festival, sponsored by the City of Stafford and co-hosted by Missouri City, is Sunday, Oct. 17 from noon to 6 p.m., at the Stafford Performing Arts Centre, 10505 Cash Road.
In this year’s highlight, “The World of Sports”, The Houston Cricket League and The Houston Athletic Rugby Club will demonstrate exhibition games in past paced, thrilling play. The Dynamo Senior Academy Team will take on the Stafford High School Team in an exhibition Soccer match. The Embassy Skaters will showcase competition level skateboarding tricks. The Games2U caravan will exhibit video games, a rising international sport, at this year’s festival.
Families can enjoy multi-cultural dance, music and fine arts performances on the international stage. Festival attendees can sample delicious ethnic foods and shop for cultural crafts.
