|Beginning at 7:30 a.m. TOMORROW (Thursday, May 26) Houston police officers will gather up their chain saws and tree trimming equipment to assist an elderly woman with cutting down trees on her property.|
The officers will be assisted by the City of Houston Inspections and Public Service (CHIPS) employees. HPD was made aware of Ms. Edith White, who is 102 years old and has trees on her property that are unsafe. There is a dying tree in the back of Ms. White's home that is leaning toward her home, and a tree in the front of the home that has several large limbs over the roof of her house.
Because Centerpoint Energy is not able to remove trees for citizens, HPD officers have volunteered to help Ms. White. CHIPS employees (formerly known as the Neighborhood Protection Corps) will also be on site to assist in the removal of the trees at 2413 Areba.
