Houston, TX –“Who’s Your Chef?” is the question that the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce of Texas will be asking Houstonians at the culinary arts competition at Italian Expo 2011. Nine of the best professional Italian chefs in Houston will be stepping out of their kitchens and onto the competition floor to vie for the title of “Maestro della Cucina” (Italian for “Master of the Kitchen”).
Live cooking demonstrations and tastings will be given by these top Italian chefs during the three days of the Expo. Besides being spectators at these fun events, guests will also have the opportunity to be participants, as a panel of “judges” will be chosen randomly from the audience. During half-hour demonstrations, each chef will prepare one dish to be tasted by the judges and audiences, who then vote for a winner in three different categories: taste, presentation of the dish, and overall cooking demonstration. The votes will be tallied throughout the three-day event. On Sunday, June 5 at 5:30 pm, Houston’s Best Italian Chef will be announced and honored.
This is a great opportunity for Houston-area foodies to savor Italian cuisine at its best, as the chefs rise to the challenge of delivering the utmost flavor experience to Italian Expo guests. Also, Houstonians can taste excellent Italian dishes from the city’s finest Italian restaurants, paired with fine wines flown in straight from Italy, at a reasonable cost.
While the food and wine exhibitions are a favorite of many of Italian Expo attendees, many others come to the Expo for a chance to experience not just the food and wine, but every aspect of Italian culture. This showcase of Italian excellence will be hosting over 150 companies and vendors from Italy and the U.S. to an anticipated audience of over 21,000 attendees.
Italian Expo tickets are $15 at the door, but are available for pre-sale online at www.italianexpo.us for just $10 until June 2 only. Italian Expo will be open from 4:00 pm – 10:30 pm on Friday, 12:00 pm – 10:30 pm on Saturday, and 12:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Sunday.
