Stroll Through Historic Downtown Magnolia and Experience a Preview of the 37th Annual Texas Renaissance Festival on Saturday, October 1, 2011
WHAT: The King & Queen Invite You to a Sneak Preview of the Texas Renaissance Festival! TheTexas Renaissance Festival (www.texrenfest.com) and the Stroll Committee of Magnolia will host the Inaugural Stroll Through the Renaissance Festival on Saturday, October 1, 2011, from 4 to 8 p.m. on the historic downtown Magnolia Stroll. Join the King and Queen and Magnolia Mayor Todd Kana for a special sneak preview of the 37th annual festival. In honor of the new partnership between the City of Magnolia and the TRF, Mayor Kana will present the King with a special proclamation and a key to the city in Sullivan Park on the Stroll at 6 p.m. The TRF King, in turn, will bestow a special knighthood upon the Mayor.
The event will also feature a variety of TRF shoppes showcasing unique artwork and performers providing impromptu shows and demonstrations from the Renaissance period such as jewelry-making, hair braiding and metalworks. Patrons will enjoy a variety of festival food items from The King’s Feast, the Queen’s Pantry, turkey legs, kettle corn and more! The kid-friendly event will also feature eating contests, games, face painting, juggling, a Renaissance-themed costume contest (open to kids 12 and under) and more throughout the afternoon. WHO: The Texas Renaissance Festival (TRF) is the Nation’s largest and most acclaimed Renaissance theme park where the sights, sounds, tastes and beauty of the 16th Century come alive for eight magically-themed weekends. TRF welcomes more than 450,000 guests annually and features nearly 500 costumed performers on 17 stages; 340 shoppes including international food purveyors, unique artisans, merchants and craft vendors; human-powered rides; an abundance of strolling performers and the Royal Fireworks display at dusk.
