Royal Fireworks Display Replaced With Laser Light Show for 2011 Season Due to Extreme Drought Conditions and Burn Ban in Grimes County
Plantersville, Texas (September 22, 2011)—The Texas Renaissance Festival (www.texrenfest.com) will replace the Royal Fireworks display which closes out the festival each evening with the Royal Finale: Queen Titania’s Magical Light Show presented by Houston Community Newspapers. The festival canceled the fireworks display due to the extreme drought conditions and the burn ban currently in place in Grimes County.
In the tradition of London’s Royal Fireworks above the Thames, the New Market Village will present a special Royal Finale in honor of the King & Queen. Marking the close of the day, the Royal Finale: Queen Titania’s Magical Light Show will take place at dark above the Arena. This magical display of mystical dancing lights will be accompanied by the music of Tartanic.
“The Royal Fireworks display is one of the most anticipated aspects of the festival day,” said Terre Albert, general manager, Texas Renaissance Festival. “Given the recent wild fires in our area, it is necessary to replace the fireworks show this season in order to ensure the safety of our property, our patrons and our neighbors. We believe that laser light show finale will still offer our patrons an exciting and magical way to conclude the day’s events.”
The TRF plans to return to the Royal Fireworks show in 2012 if conditions are favorable.
The festival grounds were unharmed by the recent wild fires and will open on time, as scheduled on with an Oktoberfest Weekend on Saturday, October 8th.
The 37thAnnual Texas Renaissance Festival is open Saturdays, Sundays & Thanksgiving Friday between October 8 through November 27, 2011. Discount tickets are on sale now at Texas-area H-E-B and Woodforest National Bank locations or online at www.texrenfest.com.
