|(HOUSTON) November 17--The Houston Airport System takes pride in its communities and strives to promote and stimulate business development and build strong partnerships. The Houston Airport System is hosting the Hobby Airport Community Day to communicate to the surrounding neighbors that “You Matter to Houston Airports!”|
On Saturday, November 19, 2011, several Houston Airport System officials will work together with community leaders, citizens, schools, local businesses, civic organizations to help improve the appearance of Monroe Road esplanades by removing litter and cleaning up the area.
“We think it’s important to support our neighbors and to give back to our community,” says Mario Diaz, director of Houston Airport System and chairman of the Combined Municipal Campaign. “With the holidays upon us - this is the season of giving. As the nation's economy is still recovering, giving gifts is not always possible and giving time to help your hometown is a really great way to celebrate the season."
Several other departments in the City of Houston will also lend a hand to support our efforts including Parks and Recreation, Public Works, Municipal Court System and the Department of Neighborhoods.
Efforts will begin at 8:00 a.m. and will continue until 12:00 p.m. at 6900 Monroe Rd, Houston, 77061. Organizers will be on hand to provide clean up material and bottled water to all volunteers. Volunteers are still needed for the event. If you would like more information on the event or would like to volunteer, please visit www.fly2houston.com/CommunityDay.
