[Houston, TX] The 2nd annual concert of Haiyan Voice Studio will take place at Belin Chapel Hall of Houston Baptist University 7:30pm on May 5 (Saturday), 2012. The theme of this concert is “Singing for life” and it is co-hosted by Alice Chen's (Congressman Al Green's Asian Liaison) “I am Life Foundation 501(C)” - a charity organization for cancer survivors. We fundraise to help the cancer survivors who experience physical, emotional and day-to-day challenges after cancer treatment is done. We wish this concert can be beneficial to them to plan for and get the best possible post-treatment follow-up care. It is expected to have about 400 people attend this annual concert.
Haiyan Voice Studio has been thriving to promote new musical productions. This forthcoming (May 5) concert will start with an overture, and then followed by a diverse musical forms consisting of solo, duet, trio, and quartet and chorus extending several genres – featured with a blended presentation of America popular songs, Chinese folksongs, scenes from both well-known Broadway shows and operas.
Summer Haiyan Song, an active vocal artist, received the Master of Music in Vocal Performance from WSU in 2006 and has been honored with many awards. Busy career has included the performances in USA, China, UK, Russia and Singapore etc. Her operatic roles include Manon from Manon, Suzel from L’amico Fritz, Dorabella from Cosi Fan Tutte, Adina from L'Elisir d'Amore, Oscar from Un Ballo in Masquerade,and Cio-Cio- San from Madama Butterfly etc. She founded Haiyan Voice Studio (HYVS) at Houston in 2007. Students include both professional and amateur singers – having diverse cultural background of American, Chinese, Italian, French, Japanese, Korean, Greek and Mexican. She has also been invited to give master classes to a few conservatories in China every year. HYVS is aiming at coordinating Charity organizations to help more people who need. On Jan. 14, HYVS co-sponsored “2012 Light & Salt Association Charity Concert” and fundraised a large portion of money to help cancer survivors and Special need Children.
