The Mayor’s Volunteer Houston Awards are presented by the City of Houston Mayor’s Office, in partnership Volunteer Houston and underwritten by Shell Oil Company. Established in 1984, the awards honor individuals and groups for exceptional volunteer service in the Houston community. Mayor Annise Parker will present Volunteer Houston Awards to 12 individuals. The mayor will also present two Lifetime Achievement Awards.
The Mayor's Volunteer Houston Awards nomination process is open to the general public. Nominees must have conducted volunteer public service activities in the City of Houston. Award recipients are selected by a diverse panel of community judges. The annual volunteer awards program is coordinated by the Mayor’s Volunteer Initiatives Program, a division of the Department of Neighborhoods.
