SMALL BUSINESS AWARD WINNERS
HOUSTON -- The U. S. Small Business Administration announced the winners for the Houston District. “This year marks the 50th annual proclamation of National Small Business Week and we will be saluting the achievements of these winners at the Small Business Awards Luncheon May 30, 2013, 11:30am at the JW Marriott, 5150 Westheimer Rd., Houston, TX 77056. We are excited to announce the Honorable Annise D. Parker, Mayor of Houston as the keynote speaker,” said Manuel Gonzalez, SBA Houston District Director.
“These outstanding entrepreneurs represent American innovation and creativity that moves our communities and country forward by creating jobs, and contributing to the economic strength of our country,” said Yolanda Garcia Olivarez, SBA Regional Administrator. Olivarez will give remarks during the awards luncheon.

Texas Small Business Person of the Year
Mashnoon Ahmed, Mueen Akhter & Aziz Mansoor, Netbrands Media Corp. d/b/a Imprint.com
Netbrands is a manufacturer and online retailer of promotional products and printed materials started in 2007 in a small garage. Now in their fifth year of business, Netbrands is generating sales of about $3 million a month with more than 300 employees.
Financial Services Champion of the Year
Shirley Brooks, ACCION Texas, Inc.
Shirley is the Vice President Lending East Region for ACCION Texas, Inc. She has helped hundreds of people find the courage to build their entrepreneurial dreams through one-on-one consulting and counseling, workshops, and presentations at regional and local professional events that focus on empowering aspiring business owners.
Minority Small Business Champion of the Year
Kimberly C. Moore, Leaps and Bounds Tutorial Center
Kimberly Moore is the owner of Leaps and Bounds Tutorial Center, an after school tutorial service for students grade Kindergarten to 12. She is a dynamic speaker, often being called to mentor and speak on her experience and knowledge to those starting a new venture and for programs aimed at minority owned businesses.
Regional Veteran Small Business Champion of the Year
Marylyn Harris, Harrland Companies & Women Veterans Business Center
Marylyn Harris is a former Desert Storm Veteran and Army Nurse. She is the founder of the Veterans Information and Resource Project & the Women Veterans Business Center, both non-profits dedicated to helping the veteran community. Marylyn is a sought after speaker and lecturer on veterans benefits, military mental health and on issues concerning women veterans and veteran entrepreneurship.
Women In Business Champion of the Year
Kairy-tate Barkley, French Cuff Boutique
Kairy-tate Barkley is the owner of French Cuff Boutique, an innovative and highly popular women’s apparel and accessories enterprise. She is an inspiration to many women, balancing the role as wife and new mother with a demanding career. A true community champion, she is an outstanding contributor of time and resources to numerous charities.
Jeffrey Butland Family-Owned Business of the Year
Janice Jucker, Bobby Jucker & Estelle Jucker, Three Brothers Bakery
Three Brothers Bakery was started in 1949 by three brothers who immigrated to Houston after being released from Nazi concentration camp. The fifth generation family bakery is a growing business and throughout its 64 year history and today continues to be a part of the community it serves. They opened a second location in February 2012 and created 10 new jobs.
