|The Texas Asian Republican Assembly (TARA) was approved at the June 8th meeting of the State Republican Executive Committee in Austin as an auxiliary of the Republican Party of Texas (RPT). The Republican Party of Texas works closely as partners with all 13 of its auxiliaries. The goal in joining with the Republican Party of Texas is to grow the Republican Party through like-minded Republican organizations working together throughout the state. “We are excited to be an official auxiliary of the Republican Party of Texas”, states Dr. Martha Wong, former Republican State Representative in Houston and new TARA President. We have worked all year organizing a coalition of Asian Republican clubs around the state. Becoming a partner with the RPT is a formal recognition of the growing Asian conservative voting base in our state”. |
Republican clubs around the state have sought to be official partners with the RPT for growth, support and leadership alliance. As Texas grows in population, so does the influence TARA will have in bringing in conservative Asian Americans as Republican voters.
Nghi Ho, Alief ISD School Board Trustee and President of Texas Asian Republican Club and the Honorable Elisa Chang, San Antonio City Councilwoman were at the State Republican Executive Committee meeting to accept the official nomination to the Republican Party of Texas. Mr. Ho stated he plans to keep TARA and its partner clubs very busy during the campaign season. “With the Republican Party of Texas working with us we will be a formidable force in the next election and also in working with the Republican National Committee”.
The next meeting of Texas Asian Republican Club will host Mr. Steven Fong, National Field Director for Asian Pacific American Initiatives for the Republican National Committee, State Republican Party Chairman Steve Munisteri, and a very active TARA membership at Kim Son Restaurant on Bellaire, Friday June 14th. Dinner begins at 6:30 pm.
