Mayor Annise Parker is paying attention to the details - so the best city in America can get even better.
Annise Parker knew the day she was elected mayor that Houston couldn't afford to just hunker down during the recession - so she changed the way our city does business.
That's why today, we're better at fighting crime, we're working more efficiently and we're creating more jobs than anywhere else in America.
That's real progress that makes our city a better place for all of us to live, work and raise a family. Here are just a few examples: Annise put more police officers on the street and bulldozed 2,000 crack houses and dangerous, abandoned buildings.
Annise is making families a priority through programs like Hire Houston First that mean good-paying local jobs.
Annise cut more than $200 million in city spending so we could afford to do important things like building new libraries, funding after-school programs and helping kids stay in school.
Annise's relentless focus on creating jobs, fighting crime and building a more livable city is energizing the spirit of hard work, innovation and optimism shared by all Houstonians.
As a businesswoman, community leader, mayor and mom, Annise sees every day that Houston's rich diversity is one of our greatest assets.
Houston's connectivity to the international community has been a driving factor in our success – and a key part of Annise's strategy to keep Houston moving forward. From the start, Annise built a diverse team at City Hall led by Chief of Staff Waynette Chan that has reformed the city's International Business, Protocol and International Communities Offices to make them more efficient and responsive.Annise strongly supported Hobby Airport's expansion as an international hub and has catalyzed our airport system's direct flight initiatives, leading to new flights to Beijing, Nigeria and Istanbul.Annise has initiated multiple international partnerships with cities and agencies across the world, including in China, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Brazil, Ghana, Belize, Columbia and Russia.Annise initiated a strategic partnership with Yao Ming to promote Houston in China and, under her leadership, Houston's new Mandarin Language Academy forged a high-profile sister school tie with one of China's leading primary schools: Renmin School in Beijing.Annise inaugurated the formation of the Mahatma Gandi District on HillCroft and is supporting Houston's efforts to explore bringing the Indian Film Awards to Houston.Annise expanded Citizenship Week, bringing greater attention and resources to the plight of new arrivals and celebrating Houston's diversity.Annise has led trade missions to Shanghai, Brazil, Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Turkey, and worked with the Chairman of the Export-Import Bank to provide opportunities for Houston businesses to benefit from international trade.
Mayor Annise Parker knows there's more to do! That's why she is asking every Houstonian to join her campaign to make Houston an even better place to live, work and raise a family.

POL. ADV. ANNISE PARKER CAMPAIGN. PREPARED IN HOUSE.
June 27, 2013
Houston is a great place to live, work and raise a family. Mayor Annise Parker has worked hard over the past three and a half years to bring jobs and businesses to Houston, keep our community safe, improve our infrastructure so the city can continue to grow and provide services, enhance our neighborhoods and build the amenities everyone wants, such as libraries and parks.
Mayor Parker needs your help to continue this important work for a third term.
We would like you to join Mayor Parker’s campaign Steering Committee, a group of involved Houstonians who advise the campaign and help spread the Mayor’s message of fiscal responsibility, economic growth and working with all Houstonians to make the city the best it can be.
In addition, we are asking you to participate in the Steering Committee’s International Caucus. This caucus will work with the Mayor’s campaign to understand the issues our diverse communities are concerned about and help reach out to those communities. Houston’s diversity is one of its great strengths. Mayor Parker has said many times that she is proud to lead a city where so many of our citizens have come from around the world to give us their knowledge, experience and guidance to help make Houston the true international city that it is.
Please join us and your fellow citizens at the inaugural International Caucus meeting—11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10, at Metro Bank’s Community Center, 9600 Bellaire Boulevard, Suite 201. At that meeting, we will discuss, with representatives from Mayor Parker’s campaign, how we can help ensure that Mayor Parker is re-elected in November. Lunch will be provided.
Thanks to Mayor Parker, Houston has made it through the economic recession and come out in better shape than other cities across America. We must keep our economy strong and our businesses growing. We must re-elect Mayor Parker for a third term.
Please RSVP to Sue Davis at firstname.lastname@example.org or 713 392-6011 and let us know that you will join us. We look forward to seeing you on the 10th and working with you in Mayor Parker’s campaign.
