|TEXAS’ LARGEST TECH INCUBATOR and ACCELERATOR TO SHOWCASE NEWEST INNOVATIONS BY EMERGING TECHNOLOGY COMPANIES AND STARTUPS|
WHO: The Houston Technology Center (HTC), a business accelerator that assists Houston-based emerging technology companies, will host the largest presentation of Gulf Coast technology companies from the energy, information technology, life sciences, nanotechnology and NASA/aerospace sectors at the Innovation Conference & Showcase on October 9, 2013.
WHAT: An opportunity to interview over 40 early and mid-stage HTC client companies, entrepreneurs and emerging technology companies from 12 participating academic and research institutions presenting offerings in areas of research, innovation, entrepreneurship and commercialization. This event expects to attract over 400 guests.
The Innovation Conference and Showcase will feature:
Johnson Space Center Director, Dr. Ellen Ochoa as the Keynote Speaker. Ochoa became the first Hispanic woman to go to space when she served on a nine - day mission aboard the space shuttle Discovery in 1993. She will be interviewed by Dr. Bernard Harris, former astronaut, philanthropist, and venture capitalist.
A panel discussion on the Future of Technology and the Role of Houston, which will consists of the following influential Houston Entrepreneurs: Brad Burke, Rice Alliance, Managing Director; Jacqueline Northcut - BioHouston, President and CEO; Maryanne Maldonado - HTC, Vice President and Managing Director, Energy Acceleration; Jeff Reichman - Startup America - Texas Region, Houston Chair.
Announcement of the fourth annual Goradia Innovation Prize winners, a distribution of $150,000 in prize monies made possible by donations from VJ and Marie Goradia Charitable Fund and Opportunity Houston recognizing the best innovations from universities and research institutions; encouraging commercialization to the marketplace.
