Lieutenant Governor of Texas and Film Director introduce “D-Day 3D” at HMNS
WHAT: Join us for special Memorial Day weekend events remembering and honoring those who serve and have died in military service:
Friday, May 23: Battleship Texas Exhibit Opens and Special “D-Day 3D: Normandy 1944” Film Screening for Military Veterans in Giant Screen Theatre
Read more about the special exhibition and film here. Remarks by HMNS President Joel Bartsch, Texas Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst, and “D-Day 3D” film director Pascal Vuong will be made before the start of the film. Breakfast will also be served after the movie.
Saturday, May 24 through Monday, May 26: WWII Military Camp
9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Experience WWII firsthand as the Museum transforms its front entrance area to a WWII military camp, complete with authentic officer's tent, troop tents, a 75 mm Pack Howitzer, deuce and a half trucks, a half-ton truck, Jeeps and even a half-track.
Mingle with members of the 6th Cavalry Historical Association as they bring history to life as WWII officers and infantrymen. The 6th Cavalry will set up a living history camp in front of the museum, along with several of the vehicles that were widely used in WWII. They will also set up a large display within the Museum that will showcase the weapons used and the uniforms worn by our servicemen and women during WWII. Once inside the Museum, learn more about WWII weaponry, military uniforms, Morse code, and meet other special guests including General George S. Patton!
Monday, May 26: Memorial Day Two-Bell Ceremony & Half Mast Flag Ceremony
In honor of those who have fallen during military service, please join us for a special Two-Bell Ceremony and Memorial Day Half Mast Flag Ceremony. Members of the Deer Park Orchestra will entertain guests with patriotic music. A moment of silence will be accompanied by a moving musical bagpipe tribute.
All active and retired military personnel are welcome to enjoy the“D-Day 3D: Normandy 1944” film free of charge through November 11, 2014. Military ID required. This generous offer is underwritten by Gallery Furniture.
