Texas State Parks Host Arts Workshops[2/1/2015][2/22/2015]

BY Alex Wang [ January 26, 2015 at 10:03:14 ]

Texas State Parks and VSA Texas, the state organization on arts and disability, are partnering for a series of arts workshops in state parks by and for visitors with and without disabilities. Join VSA artists in January and February for nature-inspired workshops in music, visual arts, storytelling, and more!
“Our state parks across Texas are wonderful places to inspire the artist in each of us,” says Chris Holmes, director of Interpretive Services for Texas Parks & Wildlife Department. “We are looking to develop some non-traditional programs that may pique interest in those who typically wouldn’t come to our parks. Such programs are aimed at all Texans to come out and enjoy their state parks.”

All workshops are free with regular park admission; some require registration.

All workshops are being offered in a location in the park that is wheelchair accessible. To request further accommodations, please contact the park at least two weeks prior to the workshop. For more information, please visit www.vsatx.org or www.tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks.
The following workshops are planned:
Native Fibers - Learn the techniques of hand paper-making using a portable Hollander beater attached to a bicycle. Learn about native and non-native plants of the region while pedaling your way into the creative arts! Open to the first 30 participants (children and adults). No registration required.
