County Judge and Clerk lead swearing-in ceremony for newly elected officials
Houston, TX – Harris County Clerk Stan Stanart is hosting the bi-annual Harris County Newly Elected Officials Swearing-In Ceremony on January 1, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. The ceremony will take place at the historic 1910 Courthouse, 301 Fannin Street, in the First Court of Appeals Courtroom located on the second floor. County Judge Ed Emmett will deliver a special message to the newly elected officials.
“Please join Harris County Judge Emmett and me as we congratulate these new office holders. This is a wonderful opportunity to join together as these new leaders declare their commitment to serve the citizens of Harris County,” said Harris County Clerk Stan Stanart.
Every elected official is required by state law to take the oath of office before their term begins. As Clerk of Harris County and Chief Elections Officer of Harris County, Stanart will serve as the master of ceremonies and conduct the formal swearing-in for the newly elected officials.
“This ceremony provides elected officials, their family members, friends and the media the opportunity to celebrate the start of a new year in Harris County,” said Stanart.
Complimentary parking will be available in the Congress Plaza Garage, 1019 Congress Street. In addition, street parking is free on New Year’s Day.
