SCiPA是一个来自海峡两岸为主的专业人士组成的协会。全体会员向来关心美-中-台情势的发展,我们都冀望一个具有建设性的美中关系发展平台,能促使紧张的世界局势趋於缓和,在国与国之间,族群与族群之间,阶级与阶级之间,通过对话而非对抗,合作而非斗争的方式,寻求族群的和谐,国与国的互利互惠,并带来人类真正的和平,一起迈向未来。

这是不是一个梦想? 这个乌托邦式的梦想有否实现的可能? 它的物质基础在那里? 换言之,什么是美中关系发展的平台? 它与我们每个人的关系如何? 我们是否能定位自己的角色? 在促进世界和平的事业中,做出什么贡献?

从小我的个别观点来看,也许每一个人连一颗螺丝钉都算不上,但是「众志成城」,如果我们都愿意贡献一己之力,在促进人民与人民的互相尊重、互相理解方面做出努力,搭起民间沟通的桥梁,我们也许就是这个发展平台的一个基础。

不久之前,911事件之後的反恐问题,曾经是美中合作的一个议题。从另一个角度来看,许多美国跨国公司,利用中国的廉价劳力,以及无限商机的市场潜力,已经与中国形成一个经济发展共同体。在官方或半官方层次上, 2008奥运、2010世博会,以及进行中或即将进行的各种中美相关部门(e.g.,中美农业部)的圆桌会,似乎都标明著美中之间错综复杂的依存和互惠本质,其中自然有许多的斗争和妥协,也有层出不穷的矛盾和瓶颈。

白先慎教授、吴博雄和倪大刚先生将以各别的接触和认识,带我们进行即将来临的这一场讨论会,欢迎大家踊跃参加。

SCiPA is an association formed by the professionals, entrepreneurs, businesspersons, or college students originated mainly in either Taiwan or the mainland of China.　We all concern the future situation developed among the U.S.-China-Taiwan, and wish that there is a constructive development platform of the Sino-U.S. relationship, in order to promote the reconciliation of the　worldwide situation that tension exists; between state and state, nation and nation, or class and class.　Through the dialogue not competition, the cooperation not struggle to promote the harmony among the nations, the win-win situation among the states, and move toward the true peace for the future together.　Is this just a dream?　Is the utopian dream realistic to come true?　What is the real foundation it rooted?　In other words, what is the “Development Platform of the Sino-US Relationship”? What is the relationship between the individual and the platform?　Can we define our personal role related to it and what can we contribute to the cause of promoting the world peace?　Individually, each of us might not be anything at all, but together is powerful and if we are willing to contribute our best in promoting mutual respect and mutual understanding between people and people, serving as the bridge of communications, we ourselves could be the foundation of the platform.　

Before long ago, the anti-terrorism issue after the 911 event has become an agenda of the Sino-U.S. corporation.　On the other hand, so many multi-national U.S. companies　have fused themselves with China and formed a common entity in the economic development.　Up to the semi-official or official level, the 2008 Olympic, the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, and various round-table conferences in progress or soon to be in progress between the counterparts of governmental departments (e.g. the agricultural department of the U.S. and China), all seem to suggest the interweaving and complicate nature of coexistence and mutual beneficial between these two countries; for so many competitions and compromises, and various conflicts and bottle neck problems are expected without doubt.

Prof. Steven Pei, Mr. Paul Wu and Mr. Da Gan Ni are going to lead us in the panel discussion with their personal contacts and viewpoints.　We sincerely welcome you to participate the meeting.
