休斯顿80/20亚美政治行动委员会支持的候选人名单

世界名人网讯 美国中期大选风潮迭起,素有爱好政治的亚裔社工组成的休斯顿80/20亚美政治行动委员会(Houston 80-20 Asian American Political Action Committee)近日与选举前公布了所支持的候选人名单,联合就是力量。希望通过联合,把少数弱势的亚裔选民的选票凝结起来,作为影响美国政治的一个其杠杆作用的筹码。
休斯顿80/20亚美政治行动委员会(Houston 80-20 Asian American PAC)宣布他所支持的候选人名单,这些名单也会出现在11月7日的选票上。
休斯顿80/20亚美政治行动委员会会长Rogene Gee Calvert说: "这个支持名单是所有超级选票(注:这个委员会的委员)中超过三分之二的投票结果。" 据相信,这些候选人能最好的代表亚裔美籍人社区的利益。亚裔美籍人社区虽然居住在全休斯顿各处,但是他们确实生活在最高成长和有最大基础设施和服务需求的地方"

As part of their endorsement activities, Houston 80-20 will urge the Asian American community to vote for their slate of endorsed candidates and issues through Asian language mailers, promotions in the Asian media, targeted telephone banking and block walking to registered Asian-surnamed voters and driving senior citizens and others to election polls. The following activities are scheduled:

Houston 80-20 urges everyone to vote either during early voting starting October 23 - November 3 or on Election Day, November 7th.

H80-20 is a non-partisan, local political action committee. Its objectives are:
·To mobilize APA in Greater Houston to participate in the political process;
·To educate APA on issues concerning our community;
·To endorse political candidates who have demonstrated in deeds and policies supportive of our community;
·To provide financial support to endorsed candidates through contributions and/or fundraising;
·To encourage APA to vote as a bloc for maximum political effectiveness;
·To cultivate, encourage and support qualified APA candidates to run for office or to seek appointed positions;
·To facilitate communications among the APA communities and policy makers in all levels of government;
·To influence decisions by elected officials and policymakers that impact our community, and
·To collaborate with other like-minded organizations to achieve shared goals.
Recent activities of H80-20 include:
· Endorsed candidate in 2000 presidential election
· Endorsed candidates in 2001, 2003, 2005 City of Houston Election
· Endorsed candidates in 2002, 2004 City of Sugar Land Election
· Endorsed candidates in 2002, 2004, 2006 Congressional, Texas State (5 of 6 elected) and Ft. Bend County
· Endorsed school board candidates in HISD and Ft. Bend ISD.
· Campaigned for candidates through targeted block walking, phone banking, mailings and media promotions
· Contributed financial donations to candidates
· Hosted candidates forums
· Launched voter registration drives
· Organized display of American flags in Chinatown on July 4th
· Held 4th of July Picnic Celebration
H80-20 is registered with the Texas Ethics Commission as a Political Action Committee (PAC).
Financial reports are filed with the Commission.
