以下是Roy L Moore的英文简历
Roy L. Moore, a fifth generation Texan, has spent a lifetime “in the trenches” of family law – as both an attorney and as Associate Judge of the 245th Family Court. That real-world experience translates to a respect for the law, an understanding of the process, and a commitment to protecting the interests of children, parents, and families.
Roy graduated from Southern Methodist University with a degree in engineering. His training as an engineer produced a healthy respect for rules and the reasons behind those rules. It is a respect that would shape his belief that a judge’s job is to follow the law – not create new law – and to not let personal attitudes get in the way of fair, honest and just decision-making.
After earning his J.D. from South Texas College of Law, Roy began a career in family law that has spanned nearly 20 years. After working as a solo practitioner, he joined his father, the noted family law attorney Roy. W. Moore, to form Moore & Moore, L.L.P. in 1999.
He remained a partner there until March 2007, when he was appointed Associate Judge of the 245th Family District Court. His service on the bench underscored and built upon his broad background in family law, as he has dealt with a wide range of issues: adoptions, divorce, paternity and the Department of Family and Protective Services (formerly Child Protective Services) matters.
Roy’s professional affiliations and career achievements reflect his experience:
* Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization
Additionally, he is also a recognized authority on family law. He has spoken or presented papers at The Advanced Family Law Course, the South Texas College of Law Family Law Conference, the South Texas College of Law Grandparent and Kinship Care Seminar, the Definitive Short Course on Parent-Child Relationships at the University of Texas, the Texas Association of Domestic Relations Offices, the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, and the Family Law Institute.
Having worked as both a judge and an attorney, Roy also has a unique insight into the emotional, legal, and practical concerns that are common to Family Court.
He recognizes, first and foremost, the judge’s role is to ensure that the “best interests” of children are protected. That is his guiding principle. While Roy believes kids belong with their parents, he also believes parenthood is a privilege – not a right – and parents must assume the responsibilities and ramifications that come with it.
At the same time, he understands how the court works. He knows where improvements can be made – whether increasing efficiencies or fast-tracking cases when it is in the child’s best interests – and is dedicated to making the process work even better for children, families, and the attorneys who represent them.
Roy and his wife Jenny have two children, Molly, 5, and Walker 3.
